Stillaguamish Eagle Expeditions

The two forks of the Stillaguamish confluence in the city of Arlington, a short drive from I-5. Throughout the fall and winter, American Bald Eagles perch along the banks to feed on abundant salmon. Your raft becomes a platform for a splendid view of these marvelous raptors as they interact with the Stillaguamish and its humanized environs.

Season and Water Source: Eagles begin arriving in numbers in November. Peak populations are present in December and January. Many eagles remain throughout February. We usually end our season the first week of March.

Meeting Place: We will meet at Haller Park in Arlington. From I-5, Exit 208, (Arlington, Darrington, 530), take Hiway 530 3 miles to Arlington. The first stoplight is at the intersection of Hiway 9 and Hiway 530. Turn left at the stoplight and then an immediate right, continuing on Hiway 530. Go a very short distance, about .1 (one-tenth) of a mile, and turn left onto West Ave. Continue on West Ave to Haller Park.

How to Dress: Winter trips are quite pleasant if you dress properly. Since the Stillaguamish is not a whitewater run, you will not get wet from water splashing into the raft. However, we recommend that you bring a rain jacket and rain pants if there is a threat of showers.

Even on clear days, it is a good idea to bundle up. We suggest fleece (nylon pile) pants, wool pants, or ski pants, warm winter jacket, gloves, and a hat. Avoid wearing cotton, especially on rainy days. Don't be afraid to over-prepare. It is better to have it and not need it, than to need it and not have it.

Wool socks and boots are perfect footwear. Felt-lined boots with rubber soles, such as Sorels, are perfect. Second best are rubber boots. Hiking boots and work boots will also work but not as well.

Age and Condition of Participants: Children must be 6 or over. There is no upper age limit.

"We enjoyed your river guiding expertise and great company. Thanks for a special day. We will be back." -Barbara
