Boulder Drop is a long, difficult, challenging stretch of whitewater, rated as Class V. Class V rapids offer little chance for rescue and pose a significant threat of death or injury.
Everyone is given the option of walking around this threatening rapid.
If I choose to run Boulder Drop instead of walking around, I accept all the potential negative consequences of my decision:
1. Death by flush drowning.
2. Death or serious injury resulting from an entrapment.
3. Severe or fatal injuries caused by collision with rocks, other rafters, items in the raft, the raft itself, or objects in the water.
4. Psychological injuries brought on by fear or trauma.
5. Unforeseen negative consequences.
We cannot guarantee that your raft will remain upright, or that you will not be thrown from the raft into the water. If you fall in the water, we will try our best to rescue you. However, experience shows that such rescues often fail, and the swimmer has to swim the entire rapid.
Even if you remain in the raft, the violent nature of the rapid could produce severe injuries caused by collision with rocks, other rafters, items in the raft, or objects in the water. You could also be injured or killed by becoming entrapped in a raft that is pinned on a boulder or tree, or by being entrapped in a raft stuck in a hydraulic, or by other means.
I have read this form. I agree to accept all responsibility for my decision at Boulder Drop.
